lyrics: Eve evil (attention is worship)

What will we worship
with our attention?
Will we worship even as we condemn…
another gap between
what is and “what should be,”
craving solutions for our problems with reality?

We suppress symptoms
to create syndromes.
We label specks of God‘s Will
as a personal offense
against our preference.

“Repent,” said One,
yet we kept naming things negative:
sadness fear rage too much not enough,
but what we resist
that still may persist
as we deny that our benign neglect also equals nourishment.

We are idolaters
worshiping what should be.
We may speak of love
but so reek of vanity,
throwing stones of shame
at those who throw stones
and then calling that
“just encouraging humility.”

We’re cold-hearted devils.
We’re sincere hypocrites.
We accuse the world
of needing us to save it.
We quote selected scriptures
for the glory of our pride.
We argue partisan politics,
leading blind.

What will we worship
with our attention?
Will we worship even as we condemn Eve evil…
another match between
what is and “what should not be,”
craving solutions for our problems with reality?

It’s pure narcissism.
It’s the drama of suffering,
though, once we admit it,
it’s just another comedy.

(as if all our illusions of grandeur have never been anything more than nothing)

Are you GENIUS? Your interpretation is a very creative act. Can you teach my students? How can you create their motivation to play freely with evil?
    BRAVO, BRAVO, BRAVO….

Thanks, Ante. It may be quite a relief to note that evil is just a word we use for whatever we condemn, whatever we repress, whatever we fear, whatever we wish to negate (which we may also label “negative” as in “inferior” to however we believe that w should be- or at least should appear to be).

So, if a big fish eats a little fish and we condemn it, then it is evil. If we do not condemn it, then it is only a big fish eating a little fish.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with condemning something as evil, or with repressing something or forbidding something. I just play with words, and amongst the words I play with is the word evil. I am not especially interested in motivating anyone who is not already motivated, but I am interested in playing with those who are willing and able to play. I think that many younger people may be willing to play with freedom and responsibility and adaptiveness and creativity, as well as at least a few of my elders such as yourself.

Thank you for your interest and encouragement and partnership. It is my privilege to share these things with you and all that you may wish to share it with further.

  2. Judy Osmundson Says:

True, if our eye is always on evil, then we worship it, and it may draw near. If our eye is always on loving others, then we worship that expression, and we may experience it. If we fear our big fish eating our little fish, then we have given it the power of evil and we share in it. If we can see our way with love, we have its power. Do know that Love is always our causation, and evil is only our mistake and its reversal. ;))

    • jrfibonacci Says:

Does anything inherently evil exist “out there?” Evil is a word, a label we apply to some idea that we reject, we resist, we repress, we judge against.

Whenever we judge against some perceived creation, do we judge against God as the source of that perceived creation? While I do not condemn judging against God and God’s creation, neither would I condone it, as much as I may have practiced condemnation erroneously.

Condemn not evil. Repent of judgment. Miracles are happening now.
