aspartame (AKA equal / nutrasweet): primary cause of the huge increase in Cancer, Migraines, Fibromyalgia, Lupus, & Multiple Sclerosis?

Is the huge increase in the use of aspartame (AKA equal / nutrasweet), the primary cause of the huge increase in Cancer, Migraines, Fibromyalgia, Lupus, & Multiple Sclerosis? First is an article from the New York Times from 2006, which reported that “Dr. Soffritti’s [7-year] study concluded that aspartame may cause cancer.”

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/12/business/worldbusiness/12iht-sweet.html?_r=0

The next article details more recent research, noting that MONSANTO is the creator of Aspartame. “MONSANTO funds… the American Diabetes Association, the American Dietetic Association and the Conference of the American College of Physicians.” http://rhondagessner.wordpress.com/2013/09/02/a-killer-in-your-fridge-sweet-poison-a-must-read/

Finally, for those with more courage than the average consumer, here is a detailed chronology on the “conspiracy” to take a known neurotoxin and get millions of people to consume it regularly: http://www.rense.com/general33/legal.htm

A correspondent replied with this comment: (and my reply is below)

From everything that I have read about artifical sweeteners, it has just blown me away. Why have this not been put out there in the news so people may be able to seek help if they drink diet sodas?

This information could save a lot of people from ingesting something that could kill them. That’s the bad thing when people don’t know. I’m also aware of how much fuss this could kick up also.To be honest and step up to the plate and let this very important knowledge be told would help more than it would hurt.

My reply:

Thank you for your comment. It can be very startling to discover the history of artificial sweeteners, the FDA, the media, and so on.

When we say “help more than it would hurt,” we mean relative to some point of reference, like helping the general public. Is it the goal of mainstream media to provide maximum help the general public… or to promote the interests of an exclusive, privileged club (owners, advertisers, etc)? Is it the goal of public schools to promote the self-interests of every single individual student… or to promote the interests of the system?

Why has this information been largely ignored by the mainstream media and public schools and so on? What interests are revealed in their patterns of activity?

Millions of dollars have been spent to get the masses to do things that trigger addiction in the brain and eventually kill people. Are those who invest in these companies acting on behalf of the interests of the general public or out of personal interest in increasing the value of their stock holdings? Are they promoting mental haze, neurochemical chaos, emotional crippling, and intellectual chains to the ideals of propaganda of public relations lobbyists?

Next, consider all of the governments in human history. Have you ever heard of any government officer that took some action which preserved “the status quo” at the expense of one or more individuals? The action could have been a political maneuver that delayed a political opponent or an accusation about an enemy’s corruption or threatening to raise a particular tax as blackmail. Or the action could have been an act of outright deception, such as saying with no sincerity whatsoever that “if I am elected, then I promise to remove all of our military troops from Japan by 1984.”

The masses may view politics as a holy sanctuary from all of the rest of life. They may presume that politics has none of the drama of the average sporting event, such as the use of deception and misdirection. The masses may worship an ideal of future political salvation. That ideal may have been promoted through the indoctrination programs of public schools: “think about the future!”

In a sporting event, imagine one side distracting the other side from the actual current events by instructing the opponent to “ignore what is actually happening during today’s game and instead speculate about how you will plan later to win the championship next season.” In order to demoralize the opponent, a competitor might say “Did you know that your coach does not really care about you personally? They just want to win the game. They are willing to send you out on the field to risk injury (while they stay over on the suidelines in safety). Do you remember your buddy who used to be on your team, but is not anymore, and what they said about how they no longer trust the coach?”

Some people could be trying to create public loyalty toward the FDA. Some people could be trying to censor certain information and also to distract the masses with trivial controversies and confusing scandals.

When certain interests hired lobbyists to promote the formation of the FDA, which interests guided the process? Who funded the campaign to promote support from the public for a centralized agency which would govern new realms of human behavior?

When the FDA issues a publication that announces the existence of a demon called cancer which is possessing more and more people every year, but is incurable (except perhaps through FDA-approved methods), is that black magic? Would the FDA ever go out of their way to persuade the public to think about health in “disempowering” ways and to only use interventions approved by the licensed priests of the holy empire of the United States of America?

What if there are more beneficial or cheaper methods that compete with the interests of the FDA? How much money should be invested in targeting those methods for criminalization and prosecution?

Many people say “the FDA should reform their guidelines to conform with recent findings of science.” I say “when was science ever an important factor in FDA guidelines?”

The FDA is not a scientific institution, but a government institution. Their function is to direct the attention of the masses, the perception of the masses, and the behavior of the masses.

Further, the very idea of a scientific “institution” is a bit contrary to the basic idea of science. Science is not institutional. Science is heretical. Therefore, one of the primary interests of a governing institution may be to deceive the masses as to the basic realities of science.

Governments attempt to keep important science secret, like when there was a secret program to develop nuclear weapons in the US. The program was not publicized. There was no open debate in Congress about it. There were no candidates campaigning on the platform of “If elected, I will begin a secret program to assemble some brilliant scientists to create unprecedented weapons of mass destruction to further the interests of our operation of global intimidation and terrorism, which shall be called The United Nations.”

If you are committed to accuracy (and the well-being of your descendents) more than loyalty to a pre-conceived ideal, let me know. It seems to me that most people are deep in the trance of idealism, like a slave who insists that obedient slavery is the best path to a future paradise of heaven.

THANKS for this article – and to all who took the time to read and comment. I wish I could believe that informing the public would be all it would take to make a difference — unfortunately, I have serious doubts, based on my experience.

I hate to sound like Debbie-Downer, but I have been ringing this particular bell for *years* – and what’s REALLY sad are the following responses that I have received when I share:

    • rolled eyes and supposedly “humorous” comments aimed my way from friends and colleagues who continue to guzzle Diet Coke, Diet Pepsi – etc.

    • the reality that, after OVER THREE SOLID YEARS of repeating the simple request that the CVS down the block from me stock a non-aspartame drink — requested from *every* employee and manager in the store, along with countless emails to the CVS mothership, and an email exchange with the makers of Diet Rite and Diet RC (non-aspartame choices), I have hit ONLY brick walls — except for the suggestion that I “Try Krogers” (this last from the 7-UP guy four DAYS ago)

    • that, despite the brain-based research on the exacerbation of cognitive difficulties as a result of ingesting aspartame – and despite the fact that the ADD clinic of Dr. Daniel Amen actually includes aspartame ingestion as part of his ADD diagnostic screening questionnaire — Diet Coke, Pepsi, etc. are stocked as part of the food service offerings at ADD and ADD Coaching Conferences like ACO and ADDA.

I could go on, but I’ll spare you further enumeration of my frustrations. I don’t GET it, but the problem is worse than we can possible know or understand: It’s not ONLY that people don’t know – they seem to find it annoying to hear anything that might cause a change in what they eat and drink.

In any case, in my experience, they haven’t wanted to do anything ONCE they knew

    – even as something as simple as changing what they drink

    – or offering a non-aspartame choice along WITH the poisons stocked – what business model is based on NOT selling an item regular customers are eager to BUY?! It’s not like I’m asking for dinosaur meat or something. NUTS, huh?

    – or taking the aspartame diet drinks off the menu at ADD conferences (and informing those who work with ADD *why* the aspartame diet drinks are no longer on the menu vs. responding to ME with any version of, “But that’s what people want”)

::BIG SIGH:: Here’s hoping that YOUR article becomes a sort-of 100th monkey, and that all of a sudden the world wakes up to what’s going on, ready to put a stop to it.

    • jrfibonacci Says:

Madelyn, I respect your sincerity and your interest in having others express recognition of the issues important to you. At the risk of being too extreme in my analogy, read the following while you keep in mind that we are talking about a powerful neurological influence in regard to aspartame.

If something is designed specifically to be extremely addictive, then why would you be surprised if many people are complacent about the various research findings on detrimental effects? This substance is one of many that is heavily publicized to program the masses to consume it. It impairs cognitive function. It blocks intelligence and creates what we might call a kind of retardation.

So, here we are, people who notice that crackheads who are addicted to crack are acting rather retarded, including in regard to the fact that their addiction to crack is really not beneficial to them. It is almost as if they have been programmed in methods of self-sabotage.

In fact, that is exactly the case. The masses are programmed to be guilty, ashamed, and paranoid of criticism. Rather than face the criticism of “being different” by avoiding something popular like aspartame, plus considering the fact that it may be extremely addictive, people simply continue to take the actions that maintain their addictive retardation.

So, even you may have a sense of guilt that you have not rescued the retarded addicts from their addiction. Even the ADD conferences are stocked with drinks containing Aspartame (and may even be funded by interests that profit from Aspartame).

Here is the obvious conclusion which may even be slightly disturbing to you to recognize (or you could have made the obvjous conclusion yourself): CVS is a business, not a charitable operation. An ADD conference, even if it IS a charitable operation, is still responsive to business interests. The organizers may not really be interested in health. They may smply be interested in… relieving their sense of guilt by being “good soldiers in the war against…” ADD.

To maintain their self-images of being “good soldiers,” they may have a psychological fixation on “avoiding admission of having been wrong.” If they remove Aspartame drinks from the menu, then that is an admission that having the drinks on the menu last year may have been a dis-service. Most people are so paranoid about pretending not to be guilty that they resist admitting anything that might invite social criticism. They are addicted to social approval (if not also to Aspartame).

So, let the world wake up or let it sleep. That is not my concern. I am simply concerned with advancing science and clarity for the benefit of my own well-being and for those whom I value most.

As a sidenote, I am one of MANY people who forecast a series of economic changes, with my publications starting in 2003. I wished to influence the outcomes of people that I knew. I wished for them to be grateful toward me for helping them to correctly assess the immense risks of borrowing large amounts of money for real-estate speculation. I wished for them to give me social approval for helping them to benefit from the immense transfer of wealth as fuel prices rose, housing prices plunged, and the prices collapsed for financial stocks heavily invested in the mortgage industry (like Merrill Lynch, AIG, Fanny Mae, etc).

However, the VAST majority of people with whom I spoke actually ARGUED with me. They even gave explanations like “I want to invest in something safe, so I will stay in real estate” without even reading any competent research on the immense risks of real estate markets at the time.

I could tell you what is coming soon to the global economy, but most people not only do not want to know, but invest huge amounts of times distracting themselves from the obvious. People even say things like “oh, that stuff is so complex.” Actually, it is rather simple. However, the EMOTIONS that people have in relation to investments and personal finance can be extremely complex.

“What?!?!? You want me to stop drinking this thing I am addicted to in favor of drinking lots of high-quality water? That is CRAZY! Do you have any scientific research to support your claim that drinking high-quality water is good for humans? By the way, even if you do, then I will ignore that you do and simply attack you for threatening my religious faith in the sacred and holy institution of the FDA.”

So, I mention all of this because it can be very startling to realize that we are surrounded by naive idiots and, further, that we have been naive idiots in a variety of ways and may still be in a few. This is humbling. However, this is also a relief to admit.

We could desperately seek the approval of others by rescuing them from all of their addictions and all of their naivete. However, some may be more ripe than others. Further, once I am truly confident in myself and in my ability to help others, then I stop being so desperate and start being focused on running a thriving business. How much money are people willing and able to pay me for what I offer? How do I convert people who are prospects in to clients? How do I convert people who are not even familiar with what I offer in to prospects (and eventually in to clients)?

      • Madelyn Griffith-Haynie, MCC, SCAC Says:

I appreciate the considerable time and attention you focused upon the thoughts underlying the words of my comment – everything you say makes wonderful sense, OF COURSE, and are similar to words my inner voice says to me when my emotional balance tips to the agitated dismay side of my ledger.

I appreciate seeing them in black and white – and in the voice of another.

I have long been aware that I sometimes seem more invested in the lives of my students and clients than they are themselves.

Not true, really, but a useful frame for “attached to the outcome” that reminds me to pull back any time I find myself dancing anywhere near the “convince and convert” edge of an unhealthy cliff.

Detach with love. Perhaps that is the lesson I am here to learn. I’m workin’ on it!

So thanks for your reminder that I need to KEEP workin’ on it!!
