lyrics: “Nobody’s fake mistake”

luke 14:26-27, 33
It takes courage to welcome fear, shame and rage   This is rare and precious for the masses avoid it
Who am I trying to be? nobody                      Who am I trying not to be? nobody
Who am I trying to fool? nobody                   Who am I trying to set free? nobody
Who says to their father, “I love you, now fuck off?”
Who says to their mother, “I love you, now fuck off?”
Who says to their sister, “I love you, now fuck off?”
Who says to their brother, “I love you, now fuck off?”
A rebel with no thought of fame or of glory
A devil according to some versions of the story
A villain, a victim, a savior or hero
All of these roles are just games of the ego
I play them sometimes if the stagelights are shining
when the curtain drops, then I stop confining
my words to the scripts of the authors I quote
I may even say nothing so I can devote
my attention to listening or watching or feeling
the tension relax like layers are peeling
breath is deep and slow….
death may come or go….
It takes courage to welcome fear, shame and rage      This is rare and precious for the masses avoid it
It takes wisdom to respect all things as they are          to accept without grasping or resisting
The masses all fight for the ideals they worship
from programs of thinking they cling to in panic
they argue and quarrel to defend some words
that they believe sacred unlike all the others
they’re fools, sincere but completely naive
I was too, before through grace came relief
Now I bring nothing to sell you and nothing to teach
And by the way I don’t give a fuck what you think

Interesting. It goes along the same thoughts of the book I’m reading, “Butterflies are free to fly” by Stephen Davis.

I was telling Vanessa that when I researched your “spiritual autolysis” email, I thought of these lyrics here that I had just already sent you.
