This is a reply to JJ in relation to the prior post (prior two posts really):

Drop all of your propaganda about “what should be.” Everything else will be directly observable then. Drop your worship of ideals and of labels in language. If you were taught it by mainstream media or public education, consider it propaganda.

Rights are claims in language, which are only functional when backed by might (military force). There is no such thing as a right outside of language. For instance, the “right to life” does not prevent death and mortality, does it?

So, it is a figment of language (imagination). You are alive until you die. That is it.

U.S. PSYOP leaflet disseminated in Iraq. It shows a caricature of Al-Qa`eda terrorist al-Zarqawi caught in a rat trap. The caption reads “This is your future, Zarqawi” (هذا مستقبلك يا زرقاوي). Taken from http://www.psywar.org/ with permission. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

There is no need for idealisms, except for the purpose of psychological warfare and propaganda to direct attention, perception, and behavior- which is what language is for. I have the right to kill anything that I kill and anyone has the right to punish me for killing (or allegedly killing) if they actually do punish me.

In other words, “rights” are a completely superfluous and trivial subject- in the absolute sense. However, in human social relations, it may be effective to influence an imperialist court system by claiming a right, or by punishing a trespasser with deadly force and then defending your legal rights because the Palestinian or Native American was trespassing on their ancestral lands that you now rightfully own or claim in the name of the king or the pope or whatever.
