Divine grace uses demons to guard “angels”

English: His Holiness has been serving his spiritual master, His Divine Grace A C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, and the International Society for Krishna Consciousness inaugurated by His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada, well before his spiritual initiation in 1977. He has dedicated his life to spreading the soul-rescuing teachings and philosophy of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. “our inner demons are the fears, despairs, frustrations, dissapointments and heartache we carry within us. They are the thoughts, feelings and personal issues which reside within us that bind us, torment us and prevent us from experiencing Harmony and Peace. we can either confront them and conquer them, or attempt to hide from them. it’s an inner battle that takes place on the emotional and psychological battlefield within us. We must face our demons alone, no one else can do the work for us…with the same power within that Allowed them to enter into our minds and feelings, we can also will them back to the Light for transmutation….”

J.R. replied:

How did the demons form? The allies ( “positive” emotions: like gratitude, joy, contentment) were repressed. That frightened repressing benefited our survival in that moment- but led to the formation of demons to guard the other “ally emotions.”

Despair is a cover over desire. If there was no desire, there could be no despair. Same for disappointment, frustration, and anxiety. Fear (like fright) is never a lasting issue unless there is fear that a desire is dangerous to pursue- which it may be. At the root of all “negative” repression is a desire or instinctive drive.

“Demons” form to “protect” desires for a later time. It is natural. Be grateful for them. Do not shame them. Even the demons began as allies, and perhaps they always have been- even when we demonized certain allies (certain emotions). That was also divine grace, for there is no other power but divine grace (“nature”). The idea of a “supernatural” is just some poetic language– perfectly alright, but not especially precise.

A.S. then “liked” my comment and replied:

“Well said…! I invited them in…and mourned their company with the thought of letting them go…they are faithful friends afterall…..”
